So there I was, in the middle of writing the next Touching Up when I started it on the Moleskine news, and I realized that I have quite a lot of news — enough to cover the next three issues, in fact. Now, I’ve gotta hand it to Databinge, they make fine applications and really stay on top of their game when it comes to fixing bugs and adding features. To begin with, 0.38b1 added the ability to import text files (only) via a related document reader known as WildEyes! Now, the latest update, 0.41b2, finally adds the ability to import notes directly from the built-in Notes app, which means you can ditch the built-in notes app and use Moleskine exclusively if you so wish — or use the built-in notes app (because let’s face it, it is quick and handy) and then import it into Moleskine for proper filing and later viewing. The new version of Installer evidently is causing the program some grief, however. It seems the latest Installer changes the folder ownership to root rather than mobile user, and this is causing some to experience crashing on startup — most notably those on firmware 1.1.3 or higher. Databinge suggest manually SSHing into your device and change the permissions manually to 777 to fix this issue. I’m not a huge mobile note taker — at least, not with notes I intend to file away), and I’d like to get this published so I can get back to the next Touching Up before I fall even further behind.
