iPhone Tethering Option via AT&T to cost an astonishing $55/Month; Hack to Bypass Costs

by Jody Mitoma on June 18, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Word on the web is that an exclusive source citing from within AT&YT reports that a tethering option will cost AT&T customers an additional $55 per month, added to your current phone bills already-too-high costs.

Although this is lower than the expected (rumored) $70/month that has been making the rounds, it is still rather pricey, especially considering most iPhone owners are already paying a hefty monthly fine to sport their cellphone’s.

It is being rumored around the web that there is a way to hack your carrier’s file to allow tethering on AT&T activated iPhones immediately, but we do not condone you do so, as this may interfere with your current contract terms and cause unneeded headaches. For one, O2 UK has responded to the tethering hack saying, “we reserve the right to charge customers making modem use of their iPhone or disconnect them.”

However, if you’re still willing to give this tethering hack a go, Touch Podium cannot and will not stop you. In fact, we’ll even throw you in the right direction, to an Engadget story, explaining how to do so. Here, have a read, rebel.

On a side-note, it is said, via the same source, that iPhone MMS will be coming via AT&T at the end of July.
