Final iPhone OS 3.0 Jailbreak Information, Not Available Yet

by Jody Mitoma on June 14, 2009 at 6:43 am

iPhone OS 3.0 Beta’s (1,2,3,4 and 5) are all jailbreakable (is that even a word?) and unlockable. But for those of you who have managed to find the final release (code named “Golden Master”, or “7A341″), you are out of luck, for now.

The final release of the iPhone’s 3.0 OS has yet to be jailbroken because the baseband gets updated within this version.

You may find information claiming that you can do it by QuickPwn the same way you would jailbreak the iPhone 3.0 beta 5 version, but this is not true. Doing this leads to the “pink screen of death”, and you have to restore your phone completely.

iPhone 2G users can do whatever they want. Nothing will break the unlock for 2G (original iPhone) users because the baseband is not altered. iPhone 2G users can update their phone’s to the iPhone OS 3.0 7A341, and jailbreak, and unlock. It works with QuickPwn RC3.

It is said that the possibility of having a working jailbreak for the final iPhone OS 3.0 within the next week is highly possible, and most likely.

you mentioned that the original iphone can be updated to 7A341 and jailbroken? you actually mean the final release can be jailbroken? if this is so, what about ipod touch 1G?

Looking for this forever! Thanks alot

@darion - I was under the impression that this would jailbreak the product, just as long as it wasn`t an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S.

@drumstyx - Yes, iPhone OS 3.0 Golden Master can be jailbroken, according to ismashphone’s article. I’m fairly certain that the first generation iPod Touch is also jailbreakable. The only devices, as of yet, that cannot be jailbroken using iPhone OS 3.0 GM are the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S.

@Tbaldwin - You’re very welcome. Glad I could assist you in your findings.

I’ve tried the jailbreak with quickpwn for beta 5. But it is really buggy (a lot like beta 1 and 2) so I wouldn’t recomend it. I restored back to the regular GM version

I wish I could assist the lot of you, but unfortunately, I don’t even own an iPhone, and thus, I’ve never attempted to jailbreak an iPhone using the 3.0 firmware. I just write the news as I see it.

Best of luck to every one of you!
