15 Apps Rendered Obsolete Because of iPhone 3G S and OS 3.0
by Jody Mitoma on June 14, 2009 at 3:28 am
I’m sure most of the world’s people were happy to hear about Apple’s new iPhone 3G S to be available on June 19th, and their upcoming iPhone OS v3.0 to be available on June 17th. But I can assure you that there are a select few people out there that are not nearly as happy-go-happy about the announcement as you were.
I’m talking about 15 people that have spent numerous amounts of hours to release applications for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch products. The 15 applications listed below will officially be rendered obsolete come June 19th, 2009. That is because the 15 applications listed below have all been upgraded, and put on the iPhone 3G S and iPhone OS 3.0 software stock from store shelves.
This means that these applications will lose an astonishing amount of buyers (I’m talking -/+90% here) starting days ago, when the announcements were made official at WWDC ‘09.
The list, provided by ismashphone.com, goes as follows:
- Cycorder
- iPhone Modem
- iClipboard
- Clippy
- Say Who
- AdelaVoice Voice Dialer
- GadgetTrak
- Quickgold
- MotionX GPS
- Camera Zoom
- Night Camera
- iTalk
- Send Contact (Business Cards)
- Big Keyboard Email, and last but not least
- Swirly MMS
For more insight and images of the listed applications above, feel free to check out the full article over at ismashphone.

Correction:
Cycorder – Cydia not AppStore
iPhone Modem – Cydia not AppStore
iClipboard – Cydia not AppStore
Clippy – Cydia not AppStore
Quickgold – Cydia not AppStore
Camera Zoom – the 3GS camera does not have zoom, just auto-focus
Swirly MMS – Cydia not AppStore
most of these apps are FREE on Cydia so they won’t be losing sales. You don’t have an iPhone yet do u?

Whoops! I can definitely say I messed up on the title of this story. My apologies.
Thank you kindly for the correctional notice. The changes have been made to the story.
To answer your question, no, I’ve never owned an iPhone, but I hope to get the iPhone 3G S within the next couple of months.

No problem man. It’s nice that ur gonna start with a 3rd gen product with so many of the most wanted features already on there and bugs already fixed. I’ve had iPhones since the first day of the first gen and man, the 3GS is on such a completely different level compared to the first, I’m excited to get it when my contract allows (8/6/09).

Unfortunately for me, in Canada, the only network that works with the iPhone, is Rogers. The bad news with that, is that we must sign a THREE year contract with the company when signing up! Can you believe that?… I only got my current phone about a year ago, too, so I refuse to wait two more years before getting myself an iPhone. I will pay the full price, and go for a 16GB version 3G S. I’d get a 32GB, but having to pay hundreds upon hundreds, that extra $100 difference between the 16 and 32 versions is just adding to the beefy price as is.

Wow three years is freakin’ crazy!

iPhone Modem – might do the job even if the offical carrier in your country doesn’t give support
maybe the consumed RAM is lower on apple’s apps than on this ones:
iClipboard
Clippy
Quickgold: I somehow doubt it that spotlight will find hidden apps or apps in a categories folder, but let’s see what it does.
