Playing with Your iPhone on a Big Screen TV Using Video-Out Feature

by Jody Mitoma on December 5, 2008 at 7:13 pm

Wow, would you have a look at this. I’ve never seen anything like it. This guy is playing with his iPod touch like a normal user would, but instead of looking off the tiny iPod touch screen, he’s got it hooked up to a big screen tv!

Here, have a look at the video right away:

Okay, so it is a bit laggy, but according to Ars Technica, hooking up your 2nd gen iPod touch to a big screen doesn’t lag at all. Reason behind this is because the 2nd generation iPod touch has a faster processor than the 1st gen iPod touch, or a 1st or 2nd generation iPhone for that matter.

Anyway, fact is, video-out works, and it looks like a hell of a lot of fun! One flaw for iPhone/iPod touch game developers, that I personally saw, when playing on a larger screen, is that you will more clearly see the smaller details that developers have left out because of the small screen on the iPhone/iPod touch. I’m sure most, if not all of you, noticed that the tires weren’t spinning on the motor bike near the beginning of game play, right? Still, none-the-less, quite impressive, to say the least. I wouldn’t mind this video-out secret, personally.
