Press Release: touchGrove Release LED Basketball … FROM DOWNTOWN

by Eric March on October 15, 2008 at 3:21 pm

Oh man, I had such a tough time keeping this on the down-low when Mark let me in on this one last week.  Y’all know what a fan I am of LED Football, with all of its plasticky, bleepy, glowing LED retro goodness carved out of a solid block of volcanic awesome.

Well, the boys at touchGrove and Neon Surge are back, and they’re bringing the full court press with their latest release, LED Basketball, and it’s yet another heaping slab of vintage win.  Just check this thing out:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lace up your Chuck Taylor’s ‘cuz touchGrove’s old-school LED Basketball game is now available for download at the iTunes App Store.

ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED GAME RELEASES FOR THE APPLE IPHONE IS NOW HERE!

La Jolla, Calif. (Oct 14, 2008) – touchGrove, LLC is totally stoked to announce the release of its second title for the iPhone, LED Basketball. “White boys can’t jump” but they can play LED Basketball. This game is like looking past a chain link fence and seeing one totally kick-ass game of B-Ball being played on an inner-city court, circa 1979. Butter-yellow case dripping with plastic goodness. Crisp, bright LED blips that really give you that low-fi wow. The defense is out of control… they’re so up in there you might think you’d never be able to get past them! The scoring is straight on: 1 or 2 player switch, ultra-bright LED score windows. 24 seconds to shoot as many hoops as your thumb can take. Go get it today. All it takes is 99 cents.

Here at touchGrove we want nothing more than to provide our fans with the best in LED gaming. Since the release of LED Football, fans have been begging us for more games. Starting today we are announcing a complete roll-out of all your favorite LED sports games. That means LED Baseball, LED Soccer (yes, you heard that correct – LED Soccer!!!) and even LED Hockey. Are you drooling yet? For you east-coast types, we are even considering LED Lacrosse! (Well, *just* considering it, not actually in development yet. Unless of course you demand it!)

Now, here’s the truly awesome news. We are right now working on a new version of our incredibly popular LED Football! This is not just a sequel, my friends… we are going for the gold! (Code word: “Gold Edition”). This thing is gonna *kill*. 24-karat gold case based on an original prototype. It will have all the great features you’ve been asking for…  2-player switch, passing, goalposts, the ability to move your player backwards and forwards… the list goes on. Oh, and the back alone is gonna be worth the price of admission. As always, everything of course just 99 cents.

LED Football… Gold Edition!   In the Appstore November.

Dude!  This is seriously some retro perfection here. We may not be able to have emulators in the App Store, but I’m telling you, this stuff right here definitely feeds my nostalgia fix.  These guys know their stuff and their attention to detail borders on obsessive.  It’s scary — but I’m glad, because their OCD is our gain.

Stay tuned to Frapstr.com too for a premium spotlight as I give this thing a test drive soon.

Crap like this why iPhone piracy is becoming more popular.

I’m not sure I understand the connection.

Umm niether do i. And what crap? You mean pure AWESOME??

The idea of us some how being loosely connected to “piracy” is kind of cool. We need something to give us some more “street cred”. Maybe we should run with this. What do you think Eric? I think it is better if we leave the “crap” part out for now. Sounds dirty.

I think he means these great games that everyone wants causes people to get them for free because they are cheap and greedy. Even though it’s 99 cents. You can get 99 cents walking around finding spare change.

Just what I think he means.
