Apple Takes Down Another One (App From the App Store)

Apparently the Tetris Company and Tetris Holdings LLC have complained about another Tetris-like game on which has been available on the App Store for over a month now.
The game was called “Shaker”, and had the basic idea of Tetris, but looked completely different from the original. Why Tetris took over a month to complain about said game, nobody knows, but they’ve complained, and the game is now no more. It’s quite unfortunate really, because Shaker actually had a few features that Tetris does not come with, the Shaker mode for example, which changed the direction of the current piece by giving the device a quick shake. The game also supplied martini receipes to the top scoring users, which was also a neat addition.
It looks to me like Apple will be removing any and all games if copyright issues arise, which makes perfect sense of course.
Let this be a warning to all of you current and future iPhone developers… You might want to make 100% certainty that if you plan on releasing a game to the iPhone App Store, that your games idea is not equivilant to that of a game that already exists on this planet. I mean it folks, do your homework, or you may end up wasting your time.
