GameSalad Makes it Easier to Make iPhone Games

GameSalad is the easiest way to create games and share them with your friends. Make games for the iPhone, web, and more...”

GameSalad, designed for the Mac, allows you to easily – using drag-and-drop – create games for the internet (for Facebook, MySpace, etc.), or for your iPhone without any programming knowledge.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, your best bet would be to apply for their alpha program (see here).

This looks like it could expand into being something huge, but only if everything is done right. One issue that sticks out to me is the English mistake they have in bold writing at the very top of the GameSalad page; “GameSalad is the easiest way to way create games…

I emailed them using their contact button on their site about a windows version. I really hope it’s possible because this is want I want. to be able to create a game and not know any programming languages.

That’d be pretty sweet if they could release a Win version, but I doubt it’ll come down to that. Let us know what they’ve replied if you don’t mind?

    Fingers crossed.

Interesting — though construction set style game design is nothing new. Been around since back in the early 80s. It’s a nice idea for people who want to design games but have no idea how to do it. The main drawbacks though are A) You’re usually limited in the style, scope and functionality of the games you can design, and B) You usually require either a runtime library to play the resulting games, or they must be loaded into the designer/and or a game executor to be played (thus anyone who wants to play your game must own either the designer or the runtime exec app).

I don’t know how GameSalad plans to work, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m not far from the mark.

Awesome, a program to get me started on making Touch games. And good on it being only for Mac, there aren’t enough game makers for the Mac.
