Apple Doesn’t Make the September Deadline for iPhone Push Notification

Remember way back when Apple had their WWDC keynote and officially announced the iPhone App Store?. Well, Scott Forstall; SVP of iPhone software took the stage and informed watchers that Push Notification would be ready in September of 2008. Problem with that is, September has come and gone, and October has started, two full days already flown by.
Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s nothing new for Apple to miss one of their self-imposed deadlines (Remember Leopard? How about the iPhone SDK?), but least they could of done was made the deadline for something like such. Apple even released a fairly major firmware update (2.1) earlier in September, but that release didn’t come with Push Notification, despite the fact that many thought it might.
Lets hope Apple is spending this time to perfect Push Notification, because I’m sure as most of you recall, Apple had quite a riot with the release of MobileMe, the App Store, and the iPhone 3G entirely. We don’t want any issues like such happening when the company decides to release a new firmware update with Push Notification finally integrated. We can only hope for the best — and hopefully that is sooner than later.
