Apple Looking Into ‘Today’ Notification Screen for iPhone

by Jody Mitoma on September 21, 2008 at 5:38 pm

According to a recent patent application filed by Apple, it looks as if the company is looking to integrate a ‘Today’ notification screen on the unlock screen for the iPhone (and possibly the iPod touch, too).

This screen would allow users to quickly jump to the desired notification by simply pressing on the corresponding notification. Tapping on a voicemail notification will bring the user to said left voicemail.

I feel that something like this would add attractiveness to the iPhone, and would overall make it easier to navigate to your desired location, with less steps required to get there.

I know for a fact that I could use a feature such as this. I’d welcome the introduction of said ‘Today’ notification screen in a 2.2 firmware update, or something along the lines of such. I am personally getting an iPhone 3G in mid-December, so here’s to hoping that the ‘Today’ screen is implemented into the iPhone’s firmware by then.
