Penguin Panic iPhone Game Brings Virus/Malware to Windows via Jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch
by Jody Mitoma on September 18, 2008 at 12:44 am

Thankfully Apple hadn’t accepted any Penguin Panic games to the App Store yet because the one that has been available for months before the App Store was even revealed is infected with a virus and/or malware. The virus, however, does not effect the iPhone or iPod touch in any way — just the Windows operating system it is connected to for syncing and charging.
The attackers use spam messages to spread the game under such titles as ” virtual iPhone games,” “take a break,” and “virtual iPhone toys.” Attached to the message is a .zip archive entitled “penguin.panic.zip” which contains a trojan application.
This is just a warning to all our readers to stay clear of any Penguin Panic games for your jailbroken iPhone’s and iPod touches. The game contains low-threat malware. Albeit the threat is low, it is a threat none-the-less.
Stay away from Penguin Panic! You’ve been warned.

Christ, the talent to write an iPhone game — even a crappy one like this — and they waste it writing BS malware. I hope the community thoroughly bans their spamming asses.
