Firmware 2.1 Update for iPod Touch Now Available

by Eric March on September 10, 2008 at 1:21 am

There’s a switch.  I upgrade iTunes to the latest and greatest and what do I see?  The iPod Touch has got the Firmware 2.1 update (5F137) already — before the iPhone.  That’s cool, though; I get to check it out and play with it on my Touch before the iPhone version is released. I can confirm that mail now works properly, which is good.  The system seems a bit snappier too, which is also good.  No app crashes yet, but then that’s going to take some playing around.

The update is free for users who already have 2.0.x, but as you’d expect, you still have to pony up the $10 if you are still stuck at 1.1.x.  It’s available in iTunes now, just check for an update.
