Rogers Canada Rumoured New iPhone Plans

by Adam Yan on September 6, 2008 at 10:45 am

Look’s like Roger’s is toying with all of us again. Now reports are saying that new iPhone plans starting at the end of September would go a little like this:

  • $60 plan with 250 daytime minutes, 75 text messages, 1GB of data, visual voicemail, 3 months of unlimited local calling and MY5 local calling included.
  • $75 plan with 400 daytime minutes, 100 text messages, 2GB of data, visual voicemail, 3 months of unlimited local calling and an upgradable MY5 nationwide calling.

To be honest, these are good rates for Canada. We all know Canada is one of the ranking top contender with the highest cellular rate plans. Research did bring up that less than %1 of iPhone users in Canada have used 1GB of full data on their first month of service. Saying that brings the rebuddle that why should we be limited when many other countries get unlimited data? Just think of it that we’re moving that direction slowly.. remember a couple months ago when iPhone plans gave you only 150 anytime minutes, 75 text messages and 400MB of data for $60? In time Rogers will collapse to our unlimited needs, but till then we’ll have to stick with these decent plans in the coming future.

Problem with this rumour is that A) It’s from an anonymous source, and B) Rogers spokeswoman Liz Hamilton already spilled the beans first-hand to CBC and Report on Business. Those are data only rates mind you, and aren’t rolled into voice plans, so anything’s possible I suppose, but for now I’d view this rumour with a highly suspicious eye.
