Allegedly Leaked Dimensions for New iPod Touch & Nano

iLounge have apparently gotten hold of some insider details on the forthcoming 2G Touch and 4G Nanos in what looks to be a CAD profile view of the two devices.
Based on the blueprints, shown above, the Nano has gone on a diet, measuring in at its thinnest ever, barely breaking 6mm, and obviously, it has a larger portrait screen as has been repeatedly rumoured over the past few weeks.
On the other hand, the iPod Touch has gained a little bulk, adding 0.4mm for a total of 8.4mm at its thickest in a curved backing much like the iPhone 3G. Presumably this means the chrome back will now disappear and be replaced with a black plastic jobbie, also like the iPhone 3G. What’s the extra room for? Your guess is as good as ours. GPS is a possibility, but that would require mapping software to make up for the lack of 3G capability. Higher capacity memory modules wouldn’t require that kind of extra room. There’s no hole for a camera, so it’s not that. Anyone care to speculate?
One final change with the 2G Touch is the apparent addition of volume buttons on the side, also like the iPhone 3G, which is an excellent and much needed idea for those that don’t have an inline remote hooked up.
Naturally, this is still speculation as it always is around this time of year, so take it with a grain of salt, but sometimes you get the good stuff instead of the made-up stuff, so let’s hope these pan out. Sure, these stil aren’t the really juicy details, but we’ll take any crumbs at this point.
