Over 8 Million iPhones Sold in 2008 Thus Far, Over 10 Million by Years End

The folks over at AFB and Investor Village have been collecting every iPhone IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number they could get their hands on, and have been adding them to a Google spreadsheet for you to view.
After a bit of work, they’ve come to the knowledge that Apple has manufactured at least 5.65 million iPhone 3Gs already. Putting iPhone 3Gs aside, Apple has also sold 2.4 million first-generation iPhones this year so far, arriving at over 8 million iPhones all-in-all.
These aren’t official numbers from Apple, of course, but they’re probably close enough to the real thing.
I don’t think Apple’s going to have too much trouble hitting their 10 million sales-mark for the 2008 year, especially with the iPhone heading to Russia and China.
