First There Was App Store, Then Android Market. Now Microsoft Wants In.

So, Apple’s App Store is a huge hit. It was a revolutionary new way to sell applications on the iPhone. Google then decided to join in on the fun, and has recently announced their Android Market, which is basically identical to the App Store we all know and love.

Just days after Google’s announcement, Microsoft reveals Skymarket. Their version of the App Store, for Windows Mobile cellphones.

We know that Microsoft’s in the midst of working on an App Store-like store because of a job posting found in the Redmond area. Microsoft describes it as a “marketplace service for Windows Mobile”. It is very possible that Microsoft will have Skymarket ready for Windows Mobile 7.0.

Way to go Apple, you’ve started something really good here.
