Apple Event: Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

by Eric March on September 2, 2008 at 1:27 pm

Looks like the Apple Event train is right on schedule. Last year’s event fell on Tuesday, September 4th, where we learned about the new Nano “phatty” models, the iPod Classics, and of course, the Touch, wherein I cursed Jobs to his very core for crippling such an awesome, lustworthy device with such a pittance worth of memory. Fortunately, they listened five months later and doubled the memory.

Now, we’re back on track and but a single week away from the 2008 iPod refresh event, wherein we will learn the truth about the 4G Nano (back to 2G form factor with taller screen as rumoured?), where the Classics will be headed, and what’s in store for the second-generation iPod Touch — perhaps among other things. Frankly, I’m surprised that the rumour mill hasn’t been working overtime for the last few weeks as it did last year.

Sure, last year we could only speculate on the possibility of a touchscreen, iPhone-like iPod without the phone, and that was worth a ton of renders and plenty of rumours, but you’d think more gums would be flapping on where Apple will be taking the next iPod Touch. Bluetooth A2DP perhaps? a 64GB model? GPS? New case design? Cheaper prices? The possibilities are endless at this point, yet there seems to have been more speculation around the next Nano.

No time has been given for the event, but in all probability we’ll be looking at the usual 10:00AM PST/1:00PM EST, and you can bet we’ll be there with a wrapup of what went down and a link to the video when it becomes available.

Stay tuned, folks. Just 7 days left.
