Clusterball 2 Coming to iPhone

by Eric March on August 15, 2008 at 2:56 pm

Those clever Swedes over at gaming outfit Resolution Interactive are gearing up to unleash their first iPhone/Touch game, and it’s looking like it’s going to kick more than a few sorry butts.

A port from their Windows game, Clusterball 2 is a futuristic extreme sport played in the air. The object is to maneuver your craft across the water and man-made tracks collecting spheres that trail behind you like a tail as you go. Sounds simple enough — but there are a few issues you’ll have to deal with. To begin with, the spheres weren’t weightless, and they’re perfectly aware of Newton’s first law. The more spheres you collect, the more they will slow your craft and the harder your craft will be to control as your tail grows longer. As if that’s not bad enough, this is a race, which means you have opponents to beat — and they’re armed. Fortunately, so are you, but the fact that you’re competing against other craft who will be trying to gun your ass down will have to factor in to the number of spheres you collect, lest you become so slow and unwieldy that you end up a sitting duck.

Although no release date has been set at the moment, they have released a WIP demo video, which you can check out below; it seems to run very well, and looks incredibly slick. This is going to be one to watch for.
