Touch Podium Group on Facebook

by Eric March on August 11, 2008 at 10:12 am

So apparently there’s this new-fangled social networking thingamajig called Mugbook or some damn thi– what? Facebook, right, thanks. It seems this is the hip place to be or something, and what with us being so hip our bums have fallen off, we clearly needed to be a part of that.

Okay, so it was my wife’s idea and she had to show me how to use the damn thing, but in my defense, there were big scary words. Nevertheless, we managed to get something set up and now we have this discussion group for our readers or anyone who wants to get a little bit more interactive with us and each other. Keep up to date on news, events, contests, post tips, offer suggestions, get tech help, chat about all things iPhone and Touch — whatever relevant sort of thing you want.

We’ll be keep an eye on things to see how they go; I’ve got access to everything while on the go now, so I can periodically check in wherever I am, and Jody has jumped in with both feet, so we hope you lot will have some fun with it, just as we will, and if we can add some cool features to it (because we still need to properly explore what kind of cool and hip things we can do with this group thingy) then you can be assured we will.

Facebook members can find the group right here. Non-facebook members — well, you can sign up and become a member if that whole social network thing strikes your fancy.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog already in progress.

Facebook sucks. Also, it’s not even close to being new. It’s been around for years, and it went to shit when they opened registration to everyone, which killed its only differentiating advantage it had: before it used to be open only to college/university students and alums.

The reference to it being new was laden with a heavy dose of verbal irony — a literary device I’m probably too fond of. Or maybe it’s too subtle, I dunno. I never liked brute forcing lame humour. It’s too much like explaining a joke.
