iTunes APPventures Vol. 1: Gags to Riches

Do you want to be rich? iPhone developer Armin Heinrich does, and he has a plan. It involves a bright gem and a secret mantra. Oh, and a thousand dollar iPhone app.

I wish I were kidding, and I wish this were a gag, but the way it’s presented, I am unfortunately thinking not. Check it out for yourself through this iTunes link, assuming it’s allowed to remain.  Oh, and in case you’re wondering what the second screenshot is, it’s the same thing.  That’s two shiny gems for the price of one!  Me, I think I’ll wait ’til it goes on sale, or maybe wait and see if someone makes one out of digital cubic zirconia.

This doesn’t strike me as balls so much as whacked. I mean, maybe the guy’s trying to yank some chains, but he seems totally sincere in his description, which means he’s either A) trying to scam some cash, or B) Mainlining crack. Whole.

The idea that someone could write such an app (which, let’s be honest, is about ten lines of code and a PNG) and seriously expect to make any sales is like trying someone seriously expecting to convert confirmed atheists to Christianity using nothing but Chick Tracts.

Maybe this guy would have better luck rewriting it in Java and selling it to the Vertu crowd.
