Installer v4 Preview

It seems the folks at RIP-Dev (you know, the folks who caused a stir with their Kate (formerly Caterpillar) application?) have pretty much taken over development of Installer from Nullriver and have been hard at work on the next incarnation of Installer for the masses.
While it is currently about a week away from being unleashed, it is now being sent around to repo owners for testing, and from the looks of it, V4 has been given a complete visual overhaul in addition to having a load of new features: A new icon, redesigned featured apps page, all new categories list, completely remade sources list with more descriptive info pages, new package screen, new tasks pane, streamlined menu bar, and more. Naturally, it supports Firmware 2.0.
There are no other details as to other changes that might have went on behind the scenes, but one thing is certain: This ain’t your granddaddy’s Installer. Despite the screenshots (shown below) I think I still prefer Cydia, but we’ll see how it performs when it’s released.
