Firmware 2.1 Beta Pwned

Of course we expected that. The Dev Team got their hands on the latest firmware seed to come out of Cupertino and have been busy making sure that Pwnage is still able to give Apple’s firmware the business. In the article screenshot to your left you’ll see the 2.1 beta firmware running on a first-gen iPhone, fully Pwned.
The Dev Team remains quite confident that the only way the iPhone (first-gen and 3G) and Touch can become proof against jailbreaking (and unlocking) is through a hardware revision, and since there have been none, they’re quite sure Pwnage will continue to work on future firmware versions.
As for a 3G unlock? They’re still working on it. The team has been quite busy with the release of Mac Pwnage 2.0, as well as xpwn for Linux and WinPwn for Windows, and are still on the case when it comes to unlocking the 3G. Patience, young padawans. We’ll see the iPhone 3G cracked wide open soon enough.

It would be a great service to your readers to note that getting v2.0 pwnd on their device currently does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for 99% of them. There is a new installer but NO software other than developer command line utilities. Best if we wait a while.

I covered that in my article for WinPwn 2.0, second-last paragraph.
