Pwnage 2.0 on Windows? Not for the Faint of Heart

So the new Pwnage 2.0 tool has been released to much fanfare, but aimed mainly at the non-n00b crowd, and strictly for the Mac at the moment. So what’s a Windows user to do? We could wait. We’re used to that. Or you could do like user Srini has done and hack the living crap out of it.
You’ll need the original 1.0 version of WinPwn, the original 1.0 version of BootNeuter from Installer, iTunes 7.7, ZiPhone, and a pre-fab IPSW created by Pwnage 2.0. Then you can follow the step-by-step instructions posted on iPhoneHacks and cross your figures that all the steps go as planned and everything works as advertised on the tin.
Again though, this is not for a first-timer. You’d better have your iPhone hacking game up to snuff and follow the instructions to the letter, lest you end up bricking your poor device.
One good note is that it has been confirmed that a jailbroken iPhone 2.0 can coexist peacefully with the App Store, as I figured it would, so you needn’t worry about your app store apps suddenly not working.
Those of you with sufficient intestinal fortitude who can’t wait to get their 2.Pwn on can head over to iPhone Hacks for a complete tutorial.

I did this with an iPod Touch, with the aid of a torrent of a Pwned iPod Touch firmware, and it’s ridiculously easy to do, just Pwn your iPod when it’s on 1.1.4, then install the custom 2.0 firmware using iTunes. Everything works perfectly, and I shall tentatively await the return of Jailbreak-exclusive apps, namely MobileScrobbler.

Have you checked out the new release of the Pwnage tools with the auto-load module? This automates a lot of the process of unlocking and provides better stabilization. This is the version that you have to use to get the most stable unlock:
