It’s Official: Rogers Gets 3G iPhone Same Time as Everyone Else

You see that banner image up there? What do you suppose that big ol’ mysterious silhouetted device is that’s coming out July 11th? Yes, I’m being deliberately obtuse, because you’d have to be a complete moron not be able to do that kind of math: Rogers + Big Reveal on July 11th = 3G iPhone, the same date 22 of the biggest countries will be getting it. For the first time, we’re right in lock step with Apple’s rollout, and I couldn’t be bloody happier, because you know damn well I’m going to be right there on day one lining up with the rest of the yobbos for a chance at this sexy new iPhone. With any luck I’ll be walking out of there with two, one for the wife. How ’bout you? How many of you will either be first time buyers of the 3G iPhone or trading up from your first gen model?

I saw the comment “trading up your first gen”…well I have a first generation iPhone…but I don’t know. Will it be possible that we turn in our old iPhones for a discount on the new one? What will the discount be? ty

At this point I have no idea, but if I had to make an educated guess, I’d have to say that would be a definite no, if just for one reason: The iPhone has never officially been for sale in Canada, so that isn’t something Rogers is going to want to touch.
Rogers will also make you take a 3 year iPhone-tailored contract, too, so I hope that’s going to be fairly priced.

No I meant AT&T in the US. lol

Shouldn’t that read “From Canada’s most expensive wireless network”?;)

@Numb
Who knows? There probably won’t be any details of that until AT&T have it in their hot little hands.
@Uncle
Ha! Yes … it should. Perhaps even “The northern hemisphere’s most expensive wireless network.”

Hm..I was thinking that too. But I was hoping you had some insider info ;).

@Numb - No, unfortunately not. AT&T haven’t made up their minds about a lot of things just yet, so there are still some items on the drawing board that we’re just going to have to wait and see about.
