Polar Bear Farm Courts Silicon Valley Investors

Kiwi coders Polar Bear Farm aren’t snubbing their countrymen when they politely decline local investment offers. Despite significant local financial interest in their applications, co-founder Guy Horrocks is really more interested in courting firms that have contacts and experience in the field as well as money. That means looking beyond their Christchurch, NZ borders to California’s Silicon Valley for seasoned firms who have been around the technological block a few times. Some have already expressed interest, though they won’t get to schmooze with any of them until they fly out to WWDC next week. Polar Bear Farm have already received App Store clearance by Apple, so all they need are the funds to expand and really start cranking out the code.
That doesn’t mean that they are completely ignoring their countrymen, however. They have already been approached by a few New Zealand-based companies to develop iPhone software for them, and are also in the process of setting up a mentoring program for New Zealand software startups, which will be announced in July.
Polar Bear Farm are the developers of ShowTime, the video recording applications for iPhone, and Search, which allows users to search their contacts and calendar events. They also developed the third party geolocation-oriented Twitter app Twinkle, and plan to bring 5 new apps to the App Store once it goes live. Their current applications can be found on their own repository (http://www.polarbearfarm.com/repo/)

Man, how I regret giving them money for ShowTime… the worst iPhone videorecording app with the planned feature of audio-recording. This news just fits perfect in the picture.

Hey Patte, why don’t you send them an email if you are unhappy with your donation. I sent them an email about problems I had with my iPhone crashing and they were very helpful. I dunno, just a suggestion. I really like that Twinkle app they did.
