16GB iPhones Selling for $700+ on eBay

Posted by Jody Mitoma on May 27, 2008 at 8:44 pm

Demand for unlocked iPhones, mixed with the shortage of in-store stock, with the extreme rumors of the 3G iPhone being announced at WWDC08 have driven iPhone prices on eBay sky-high. There are some 16GB’ers being sold at an excess of $700, an added $200 over brand new models purchased from Apple or AT&T.

Of course, auctioneers are seeing this massive price discrepancy as a way to receive a quick profit. I suggest you don’t get suckered into buying a first generation iPhone, especially with the second-generation iPhone being highly rumored to be announced in less than two weeks from now.
