Corporate E-Mail Coming “Soon”

by Eric March on May 23, 2008 at 8:57 am

Apple’s promises to bring enterprise-level features to the iPhone will soon be joined by applications that will make full use of those features. One such application will be a native corporate E-Mail program. Sybase CEO John Chen has just announced that his company plans to bring an enterprise-level E-Mail client to the iPhone that will give corporate users access to their company E-Mail with the same high level of security found on Blackberry and Palm Treo devices.

No release date has been set for the software except to say that it will be “sometime later this year” — and presumably released through the App Store. Combined with Apple’s Push E-Mail feature in the iPhone 2.0 and support for enterprise-level encryption protocols, this should give Crackberry addicts and detractors alike another reason to appreciate the iPhone beyond consumer-level interests.
