Apple Receives Total of 188 “Electric Computer” Filled Freight Containers

by Jody Mitoma on May 23, 2008 at 9:48 pm

So, yeah. Apple has received shipments of a total of 188 crates full of “electric computers” since mid-March which have stopped rolling in, last shipment coming in on May 17th, and nobody knows exactly what’s inside (except for Apple, of course). The shipment came in from Apple’s manufacturing partners in China, and of the 188 crates, 67 of them are to be delivered to Canada, landing in Vancouver, BC.

TUAW states:

These containers are not to be confused with Apple’s regular flotilla of shipping destined for the west coast. Typically, those containers are labeled as having “desktop computers” inside on their customs forms.

ImportGenius speculates that each container could contain up to 40,000 units of the new 3G iPhones.

Hmm, it makes you wonder - With the news of Canadian Apple associates holding a ’secret’ meeting, and now this…

We’ll keep you informed on any hearings!

If you’re bored, have a look at this blog post by ImportGenius. It’s pretty in depth.
