3G iPhone Case Revealed in Case Render?

by Eric March on May 19, 2008 at 12:00 pm

3G iPhone? Probably not.It was recently discovered thorugh case maker XSKN’s website that there is a render of a forthcoming skin case for the 3G iPhone called the EXO Mask iPhone 3G. The render shows all six sides of the device wrapped in one of their skins, and although it looks pretty much like an ordinary iPhone, it is quite clearly a fair bit thicker than the current version, which jibes with at least one of the rumours that has been floating around now for weeks.

Now, I wouldn’t put too much stock in this. It is a render, after all, and more telling of its spurious origins is the presence of an April 2nd copyright date. If you recall, the rumour that case designers were getting iPhone 2.0 dimension specs so that they could have new cases ready for its launch only cropped up at the beginning of this month — apparently a month after this render was done up, and the dimensions of this render don’t quite match the dimensions in said rumour. Not that either rumour is any more credible than the other.

Nevertheless, there it is. I expect this was done up purely for demonstration purposes to display how the case might look on the finished product. Heck, if I wanted to put my tinfoil hat on, I could even say the ulterior motive was to make the news and drive hits to their site. As always, the rumour mill will churn grist such as this, but it’s up to you to separate the wheat from the chaff.
