Latest iPhone 2.0 Firmware Has Option to Turn 3G On/Off

Within the latest iPhone 2.0 beta, there is a hidden option to dissable and enable 3G internet speeds. Beiing hidden, this option is not visible within the Settings panel on the iPhone. However, a developer (Chornic Productions) claims to have activated it. (see screenshot above).
While the iPhone 2.0 firmware appears to contain 3G supporting code, current iPhone owners are not able to take advantage of 3G internet speeds just yet. We must wait for the next generation iPhone before taking advantage of this option.
It is being said that having 3G enabled will take up more battery power, which makes plenty of sense. This is why you will be given the ability to turn the 3G internet speeds on and off at will, to conserve battery life when not in use.
It looks like both the first generation and second generation iPhone’s will be sharing the same firmware distributions.
