New Instruments for Band

Looks like the add-ons for Band are already turning up, as a nice little treat popped up on Installer this evening: 5 new instruments for MooCowMusic’s Band by Siiver. You can now add lead guitar, rhythm guitar, flute, Electro, and Daft Band.

Rhythm Guitar: 3 sets of 5 rhythm guitar chords to layer some harmony in your tracks.
Lead Guitar: A nice, if foreshortened six-string.
Flute: A 14-note flute for a more classical sound. Not the most consistent, with some notes featuring vibrato, and others not. And maybe it’s just my iPhone’s tinny speakers, but it sounds a bit harsh — more like a violin than a flute.
Electro: An 8-loop electro loop kit.  Some of the samples don’t sound like they’re looped well — some start in a couple of notes, one in particular is truncated. It almost sounds like they were ripped straight out of a sample pack designed for Sony’s Acid.
Daft Band: A sample and loop kit featuring Daft Punk’s Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Kind of a one-trick pony, this one, but well put together, anyway.

Not a bad collection, but I can tell there’s going to be lots more to come. Having said that, I’m thinking Moo is going to have to rework how individual instruments are selected, otherwise we’re going to be scrolling through dozens of pages of instruments before we get to the one we want. Still, it’s exciting to see new stuff appearing already, and it bodes well for the future of Band’s expansion.

Guess who ripped the sounds for the Daft Band kit. Yours truly ;)

Very nice. :) I’ll have to definitely check that out.

You did a good job, Grnot. Clean loops cut at zero-crossings and tightly positioned cut points. Needs a few ore samples if you really wanted to try a live performance, but it’s good as it stands. Whoever did the Electro kit needs a few pointers in that direction. :)
