Comparing 3G vs 2.5G Internet Speeds on an iPhone (Video)

Spanish-based website Applicando has recently released a video comparing the iPhone’s current 2.5G Internet speeds vs. the upcoming 3G iPhone’s 3G Internet speeds.
To test how the 3G iPhone might compare to the current model running on EDGE, Applicando published a speed comparison video between two iPhones, one on EDGE and one on HSDPA.
Of course, they didn’t actually get their hands on a next-generation 3G iPhone, but instead plugged in a Huawei E172 HSPDA modem card into an iMac and shared it with the iPhone over a Wi-Fi network.
Check out the video below (link):
Having a look at the video provided, you’ll notice that 3G mobile Internet speeds are just about twice as fast as 2.5G technology which is being used in current iPhone models.
As obvious as this may be, I’d just like to say that Canadian users should want to pay close attention to how often they use this 3G technology because with the quicker speeds you may end up surfing the web, downloading more data quicker than you’d of expected.
I say this because it is being rumored that Rogers (Canada’s sole iPhone provider) will not be providing an “unlimited data download package” anytime soon. In fact, it is being rumored that we’ll most likely be offered a 5GB data download limit, which is quite a lot for the average mobile Internet browser, but still. Just a heads up! I don’t want to see any 5,000 paged Rogers iPhone bills, people.
