Foxconn Contracted to Mass-Produce 3G iPhones for End of May

by Jody Mitoma on April 28, 2008 at 1:44 pm

Foxconn

The Chinese company Commercial Times is quoting sources claiming that Foxconn (known as Hon Hai in China), the makers of the first-generation iPhone, will be responsible for mass-producing the second-generation iPhone with 3G support. It is being said that there will be 3 million second-generation iPhones available by “the end of May”, to ship in June.

The company expects to produce approximately 24 to 25 million units before the product reaches its ‘end of life’. Impressive!

None-the-less, here’s to hoping that the rumors will finally end – albeit this is a rumor, too. Enough’s enough, man! But with all seriousness – this is some pretty darn good news. Here’s to hoping it is all true.
