8GB iPhone Goes EOL in UK

by Eric March on April 25, 2008 at 7:03 pm

It’s been a slice.Got your tinfoil hats handy? Good, because following deep discounts on the 8GB iPhone, European carrier O2 has circulated an internal memo that revealed the 8GB iPhone model has been put on the End-of-Life list, and they probably won’t be getting any more. UK distributor Carphone Warehouse has run out of stock, and while they are reviewing whether or not it would be feasible to order more, they did indicate in a letter to O2 that they shouldn’t be holding their breath.

Just the same, this is making it look increasingly likely that we may be seeing the 3G iPhone sooner rather than later. May, perhaps? June? As always, time will tell, but with the run they had on the discounted iPhones, it seems unlikely that Carphone Warehouse wouldn’t restock unless they didn’t think they could sell out by the time the new model arrived.

As always with these things, while this is some fairly hard evidence that something is approaching, and fairly soon, what exactly that may be is pure speculation beyond the obvious inclusion of 3G. I expect that the closer we get to the actual release date, the more and wilder the speculation will get, so just treat everything as if it came from the mouth of someone who stopped taking his Haloperidol several weeks ago.
