Device-to-PC Backups with iBackup

iBackup BetaTimeCapsule is great, no doubt about it, but the main problem is that it is an on-device backup application.  You can SSH into the device and backup the … er … backups … but it only backs up settings for applications, there are a limited number of applications that it supports.  TimeCapsule is great for experimentation where you might want to restore an app’s old settings when screwing around with it. But what about when you want to perform a clean upgrade to the latest firmware?

That’s where iBackup comes in.  iBackup is a PC-based backup program that will completely backup your applications, application data, and photos to your PC, and restore them whenever you want.  This makes it easy to perform clean upgrades and jailbreaks while still being able to keep all of your apps and their settings offline to be restored when the actions you are performing have completed.  For folks like me who may have to review something that might require a restore to be performed, this is perfect, because I can back everything up, do what needs to be done even if it requires a restore, and then restore from the backup when I’m done.

iBackup is currently in public beta, so you can try it out for yourself.  Sorry, Mac fans, this one is Windows-only, and there is no word on whether or not a Mac version will be released.

You can download the public beta from the link in this thread.
