Maps Offline v0.2 Fixes Issues; Developer Looking Into Offline Map Searching

by Jody Mitoma on April 22, 2008 at 6:19 pm

Maps Offline

Nambrot got around to releasing the second version of his Maps Offline app; v0.2.

Maps Offline now works on firmware’s 1.1.1 and 1.1.2, so he is now reaching out to a much broader community. Kudos for that, Nambrot.

He states that the ‘route section’ issue is now fully fixed, and is functioning perfectly, and he “thinks” that the ‘permissions problem’ has been resolved as well.

The developer states that there are still reported problems with the Maps.app being erased when the MapsOffline.app is deleted from the iPhone/iPod, so be warned. This has only been reported 3 times out of hundreds of thousands of downloads, however, so don’t let this stop you from trying out the application.

If you are having issues with the application, check out the Official MapsOffline Blog, as Nambrot has explained how to get by a few issues he’s noticed.

Not only was MapsOffline v0.2 released to the public, but Nambrot is also actually looking into getting the ability to search the saved maps using Google’s Maps.app function. He, however, does not know how to do this personally, and is looking for the assistance of a Google API expert, as well as an XML expert. If you’re willing to help, do e-mail Nambrot at nambrot AT googlemail DOT com.

[Download MapsOffline.app] or,

MapsOffline is available on the BigBoss Repository; http://thebigboss.org/repo.xml

The iLM iPhone app for MapThis is available on the In7ane Repository; http://www.in7ane.com/iphone

(Thanks for the tip, Nambrot!)
