CubicMan 3D Puzzler

Bloxorz! I mean– CubicMan!I love Bloxorz. It’s an incredibly addictive Flash-based block moving puzzle game and I think I probably killed too much time at work playing it. Now I’ve got it on my iPhone thanks to Dr. Watson. CubicMan is a conversion of Bloxorz for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The object of the game is to move the 1×2-size block around each level and land it on the green square. The catch is that you must land on end, so you’ll need to manoeuvre it around to get it lined up for the solve.

CubicMan utilizes OpenGL-ES graphics for smooth 3D action, and the control mechanism is quite intuitive; simply swipe in the direction you want to move the block. You can also pinch to zoom in and out in stages. The graphics are a little on the plain side, as there is no texture mapping, nor is any antialiasing employed to smooth out the jagged and sometimes broken edges. Nevertheless the play is the thing, and the gameplay is still as addictive as ever.

CubicMan is available on the ModMyiFone repo. (http://modmyifone.com/installer.xml)

Unfortunately, because it uses OpenGL-ES, I can’t provide any in-game screenshots, so I’ll do one better and give y’all a video. Note that I mistakenly attribute the game design to Weiphone. This is incorrect. It should be Dr. Watson.

That’s strange, I can get a screenshot with capture.app (from iSpazio)

In-game? Because I can get the title screen and interstitial level designation screens, but I can’t get any actual game action to snap — not with Capture or the built-in iPhone screenshotter.

Y’know what? I’m an idiot. The iPhone screenshotter does work. I didn’s ee the screenshots it took because the pictures are all sorted by filetype, and I was looking for the latest IMG_xxxx images in JPEG. The iPhone’s screenshotter takes them in TIF, so they were at the top of the folder, not the bottom.

    Yep.

Thanks — I just got it last night actually and added it to my to-do pool. :) LOVE the new version, by the way — more levels, better visuals, sound effects. Huge update, and worth the wait. I still need a screenshotter that can insert itself into an OpenGL-ES overlay though. :) Looks like i’ll either have to us the iPhone’s built-in screenshotter or do a video. (Which reminds me, I also need a patch cord to record audio directly that will actually fit in the iPHone’s damn headphone jack…)
