HWPen Beta Brings Handwriting Recognition to the iPhone/Touch
by Jody Mitoma on April 15, 2008 at 11:41 pm

The folks over at Hardware Zone have it known that HWPen; an iPhone/Touch handwriting recognition tool, is now available for download through the iPhone Cake Repository; iphonecake.com/src/all, or through the IOICN Repository; http://www.ioicn.com.cn/installer/.
lurkspur of Hardware Zone states:
This app wont conflict with WeFit and iCosta, but due to the fact that its in Beta phrase, please backup this file before installing:
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist
Reboot after installing. No icon for this app on springboard, but rather a circular icon will appear on the bottom left of your keyboard.
Leave your SSH and wifi on, just in case anything goes wrong, you can rectify it.
Warning: Only for folks who are familiar with OpenSSH!
Gizmodo made a video of the app in action.
Cool, can’t wait to give this one a try when all the bugs are fixed up, and my iPod Touch is back from Apple repairs!
(Thanks Jung, for the tip!)

Now there’s something unexpected. I’m pretty good at Graffiti (1 and 2) on the Palm and have used WinMo’s, but the iPhone/Touch? With your finger? I’m not sure I’m quite getting it. Might be interesting to check out though.
