Quake III Touch After All? Maybe? Plz?

by Eric March on April 10, 2008 at 7:19 pm

I can has rocket launcher plz?Look, don’t get your hopes up.  HermitWorks haven’t changed their mind or anything — not yet, anyway — but the whole thing has at least inspired someone to take up the cause.  iPod Touch Fans member Angelic (who, in reality, carries the prestigious name of Eric) has managed to grab the ioquake3 source himself and has so far managed to kinda-sorta-successfully compile it on the Touch.  It executes, and he’s been able to get to the menu, and (via command-line) launch it straight into a game, but touching the screen causes it to crash, the compilation itself is not without its own problems.

The good news is that he’s looking for some help to make a reality of this project.  If you’re familiar with Objective-C, and particularly if you’re familiar with programming control mechanisms and display overlays — and maybe a little SmallTalk for the networking, I imagine — then shoot him a PM and maybe we might just be fragging the bajeezus out of each other soon enough.

Have a read over his post to get all the details.
