WildEyes Stares At Your Docs
by Eric March on April 8, 2008 at 1:12 am
Databinge, creators of the Time Capsule backup system, have just come out with a new app curiously called WildEyes. WildEyes takes advantage of Mobile Safari’s ability to view numerous document formats, and provides a clean and intuitive interface to let you access documents stored in your home directory (/var/root/ or /var/mobile/ depending on your firmware version) or in its default ~/Sites directory. It supports Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word DOC and DOCX, Microsoft Excel XLS and XLSX, plain text files, and standard image formats.
On selecting a document to view, it ships you and your document off to Mobile Safari to view said document. You will need to have BSD Subsystem or APT (via Cydia Packager installation), and Lighttpd installed for it to work, however.
WildEyes is available on the Databinge repo (http://repo.databinge.com)

Hi,
I’m the developer for WildEyes!
I like how you describe the article, “stares at your docs”.. haha
I don’t know if it’s a good name, but
Wild for Safari,
Eyes for Reader,…
can’t think of a better name,..
by itself, WildEyes! does not sound nice, but i like ‘WildEyes! for Safari”, but that’s too long for a name
