FlyTunes Triples Its Stations

FlyTunes, the digital radio network for iPhone and iPod Touch, and soon for iPod Classic and Nano, has just increased its list of available stations threefold, now featuring over 160 different stations to listen to, from talk radio to rock, international to jungle. There’s plenty to choose from on FlyTunes now, covering just about any kind of variety you could want — and it’s still free, which is even better.
FlyTunes works over WiFi or the EDGE network, so you can listen wherever, whenever, provided you have access to one or the other. Their website features a test drive that lets you browse and listen to the available channels before you decide if you want to sign up or not. It works quite well and the audio is very clear. If I had to pick a feature I’d like to see though, it’s that I’d love to see song and artist information displayed when music is playing. It’s hard to discover new music when you hear something you like but have no idea who does it or what its name is.
FlyTunes is available directly on the iPhone and iPod Touch by pointing Safari to http://www.flytunes.fm. (Free account signup required) In a few weeks, a downloadable version of FlyTunes will be available to give your iPod Classic or Nano the FlyTunes experience.

Been using the service for a while. Seriously recommend using it with your iPod hooked to some form of power as this mofo just EATS your battery.
Great service.

Turn down the backlight to nothing and you won’t have a problem. Or, if you need to use other apps while listening to the music, put the backlight to the bare minimum allowed for your comfort. I also believe that if you go to the History section, you can see the songs you have recently listened to.

My backlight turns off completely & I don’t have a HUGE drain on the battery.
