There has been a recent petition started to get the iPhone released in Canada. The petition reads:
Apple iPhone was released in the USA on June 29th, 2007. Soon after, iPhones were introduced in the United Kingdom, Germany and France in November 2007, and in Ireland and Austria in March 2008.
However, the USA’s largest trading partner and neighbour, Canada, does not have the iPhone yet.
Please recognize the demand for the iPhone in Canada. Or at least, please give us a release date to look forward to. Thank you.
As sure as I am that online petitions do not mean anything to corporate organizations (unless the petition gets over 100,000 signatures), I still felt the need to share this petition link with you all.
The petition is advocated by the two largest iPhone-related websites in Canada: iphoneworld.ca and iphoneincanada.ca, together accommodating over 100,000 Canadian readers a month.
The Great Canadian iPhone Petition Sign it! …if you want.
This petition has been going on for some time now, and thus far, they’ve only managed to scrounge up ~600 votes. Not looking good for Canada…
I reside in Canada. I want the iPhone. Give it to me, Roger.

Rogers already knows how popular the iPhone will be in Canada. They’ve seen how many iPhone IMEIs there are using their network, so they know what they’re missing out on. Rogers does want the iPhone, it’s just a matter of Rogers tempering their greed against the growing popularity of the iPhone’s potential to bring them large subscription revenue.
Then there’s that little matter of Comwave’s trademark on the iPhone brand, for which Apple has already filed for trademark protection in Canada, which I hope Apple will win.
