OpenRepo Goes Live, Needs Input

OpenRepo, a collaboration between iPod Touch Fans members H3X, xxDriveNxx and GRMrGecko, is what you might call an open source repository. The idea is that anyone can add apps, games, themes, or whatever to the repository. The crew will review submissions and, if they pass muster, they will be added to the repository, effectively building up what could in theory be an all-encompassing one-stop shop for iPhone and iPod Touch downloads. Think of it like a repo Wiki.
The genesis of the idea started late last year. Both H3X and I saw the whole independent source problem and how it would eventually get out of hand and came up with the idea to create a one-stop publicly supplied repository. Only we came up with the ideas independent of one another. We both started working on something, but it kind of fell apart — which was probably my fault for taking on more than I could comfortably handle at the time.
The idea was picked up not too long ago by the trio in the first paragraph, and it is now available and accepting submissions for material. You don’t even need to sign up for anything — just pick a category, click Upload, fill out the form, and upload the file. It’s that simple. Once your file(s) is/are uploaded, staff and moderators can review pending submissions and approve them and they will be added to the repo.
To partake of OpenRepo on your iPhone or Touch, simply add http://openrepo.org/repo to your Installer sources and bob’s your uncle.
Once you’re done catching up on all the latest here (priorities, man!) head on over and check ‘em out! And if you’ve got packaged apps you want to share, feel free to send up anything you’ve got. The more people that make good use of it, the better it gets.
Plus, they have a bunny. Are you going to say no to a bunny? Go ahead, say no to that bunny.
I didn’t think so.
