Spoof App Unleashes Your Inner Serial Killer

Hello, Sidney.
So it turns out there is a prepaid service available in the US called SpoofCard that lets you effectively call someone through a service that will spoof your caller ID name and number and mask your voice as you talk to them.
Do you like scary movies?
Ostensibly, the idea is to have a little fun pranking friends and family with your disguised voice, presumably in the hopes that they won’t call local law enforcement when you’re done getting your jollies. One of their “Customer Stories” states, in part, “Whether for business or fun, it is inexpensive and easy to use!” I’m not entirely sure what line of business would benefit from spoofing Caller ID and masking voices, but I bet it would make an awesome TV series.
Who was the killer in Friday the 13th?
To make use of this service on your iPhone, there is now a handy little app cleverly entitled Spoof, which allows you to connect directly to the service and use your prepaid cards (available directly form SpoofCard or from a variety of retailers). Don’t have one? The app gives you one free call so you can give the service a trial run before you get serious about stalking pranking your victims. Prepaid minutes start at a modest $10 for 60 minutes, to the econo-sized $80 for 8 hours, just in case your reign of terror runs into overtime. There is even an option to record your sessions, so you can thrive off your victim’s fear again and again until the euphoria fades and it comes time to pick out your next target.
Don’t hang up on me!
Spoof only works in the US, and obviously requires an iPhone. It is available in the Toys category of Installer through the BigBoss source, which now has a new address at http://thebigboss.org/repo.xml
