Confirmed - Dance Dance Revolution is Coming to the iPhone/Touch

guyl3 of the iPod Touch Fans community, earlier this morning, confirmed that he is in fact going to be working on the DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) game for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
He had recently released some concept designs of what he had planned out for the game’s interface and design (see here). It’s nice to see he was able to find someone to code the game with him.
He also stated that the game will not be released until the App Store is opened later in June. Reason for this is because he and his newly found programmer will be using the SDK to design and code the game itself.
Here’s is a quote of his post:
Alright guys,
I FOUND MY CODER.
This is going to happenHis name is CHRIB , i’ve been told hes excellent. Im really happy.
About the itunes library, it won’t have this.*** BUT, we will have all the original ITG / DDR songs …
We found that we could maybe port the tap files (.SM ) into our app. We’ll be starting this really soon.
He his trying the SDK seeing if it could be better with it.*** AS FOR RELEASE DATE.
Not before the release of firmware 2.0 , as the game will be built with SDK.This is gonna rock!
I can’t wait. This’ll be much better than TTR (Tap Tap Revolution) - and even that was a huge hit!

Cease and desist from Konami in 5… 4… 3…

Highly doubt that’ll ever happen.

I doubt they will be allowed to put this on the app store, especially if it is going to contain copyrighted songs.

Not gonna happen via the SDK unless:
A) He gets a license from Konami for the port, and,
B) He licenses the songs.
Otherwise, if he wants to avoid the C&D and a series of legal migraines, he’d have to change the graphics, use original songs (or license cheap indie songs) and rename the app.

Jody: Yeah, just like folk doubted Blizzard would cease and desist the version of Starcraft some people were working on for the DS… Clearly you’ve been living under a rock for the last decade.
Eric: Yep.

ahh yes, I forgot Apple had to approve all games before slapping them in the App Store. Whoops! My apologies.
