Is the 3G iPhone Really Coming in June?

by Jody Mitoma on March 28, 2008 at 11:29 pm

3G iPhoneAT&T already announced that they would be launching an iPhone with 3G later in 2008, but other than that, they have not specified an exact date for the device’s debut.

An employee of Bank of America that goes by the name of Scott Craig states that, “Our latest channel checks point to a significant production build of a 3G iPhone beginning in the month of June after a initial small build in May.” He also estimates that the producton volume will be around 3 million units by May, to be followed by another 8 million in the third quarter of the year. This bypasses Gartner’s estimate of 10 million.

It looks like Apple plans on releasing the G2 iPhone (iPhone with 3G support), right before (or possibly right after) the release of the App Store (via Firmware 2.0.0).
