CubeWorld: Panoramas in Your Hand

Marco Giorgini certainly likes trying new things. From the man who brought us Yeti3D and iPac 3D comes a new application called CubeWorld. This allows you to view 360° panorama images, much like the more familiar QuickTime VR panoramas you may be familiar with. The program is quite interesting and pretty feature-rich, offering numerous options and utilizing MultiTouch to good effect. You can drag a finger to pan around the image in a full 360-degree environment, use the familiar pinch to zoom in and out, and perform a three-finger tap to exit. CubeWorld comes with several panoramas, and a few more are available in the 3D Panoramas Installer category. Marco is currently working on a way for users to submit new panoramas. My only complaint is that the panoramas included are fairly low resolution — what you see when you first load an image is pretty much what you get, so zooming just pixellates everything. It would be nice if more high resolution panoramas would be made available for download that you could zoom into without losing image fidelity. At any rate, CubeWorld and extra panoramas are available on Marco’s repository (http://www.marcogiorgini/iPhone/plist.xml), and you can visit the CubeWorld site for more details.
