Genesis4iPhone Ready for Beta

SEGA!!It’s been a month — to the day, in fact — that we learned of ZodTTD taking over the development of a Genesis emulator for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Zod is now announcing that he is just days away from unleashing it into the beta realm.

I spent a long while working on genesis4iphone last night. I even saw the sun rise. I’m down to two annoying bugs I want to fix before I release it. Once they’re fixed, it will be released as a beta immediately. The two bugs I’m fixing prevent save states and in-game saves to be saved for the majority of the time. Good news is when they do save to disk, the save states work great. The second bug is that sound, when enabled, prevents some games from loading. I’m not sure how long it will take to fix these bugs but I will keep everyone updated.

genesis4iphone is running genesis games quite well with a (sadly) small frameskip. It runs SegaCD games such as Sonic CD just fine, though at about 20 FPS. So SegaCD will need some work. Wink

I hope to release a genesis4iphone beta within a days time.

Those of you who have paid your dues in one way or another to become part of the beta team will be able to enjoy this emulator very shortly. For the rest of you, you’ll probably have to wait a week or two before it’s fit for public consumption.
