MooCowMusic has done it again. Guitarist has been released sooner than first expected, and is better than ever! Go ahead and try it out today. Installation instructions follow below the features list.

Features

Unique “hammer-on” metaphor simplifies solo playing by removing the need to independently fret and pick a string.

A complete guitar fretboard (including open strings) to the 15th fret.

Multi-touch. Up to 5 strings can be played at once.

Each note is a separately recorded sample, for maximum quality.

Animated strings press down at your touch for visual feedback.

Acoustic guitar patch included, with more options available in a later release.

On-screen keyboard navigation allows you to easily move up and down the fretboard.

Left handed stringing option.

Various guitar tunings available with more to follow.

Future updates will see a rhythm-guitar backing chord sequencer, electric guitars, more tuning options, and the ability to record and playback your tunes.

How to install

First you need to jailbreak your iPhone to allow third-party applications to be installed.

If it is not already there, add the “ModMyiFone.com” repository to your Installer.

Click on the Installer Icon.

Click on the “Sources” icon at the bottom.

Click “Edit”.

Click “Add”.

Enter: “http://modmyifone.com/installer.xml“.

Click “OK”.

Guitarist will appear under the “Toys” section of installer.

This application is fun. I tried it for the first time last night. MooCowMusic never seizes to amaze me. Now that his piano, drums, and guitar apps are complete, I wonder what he’s got planned out for the release of the App Store. Only time will tell! I can’t wait to see what iBand comes up with using this new… instrument!
