SlingPlayer Coming to iPod Touch and iPhone

Sling it.Old news for some of you, perhaps, but we’ve just learned that, according to ElectricPig.tv, SlingMedia’s SlingPlayer Mobile may just be coming to iPhone and iPod Touch.  A high-level suit at Sling said, “iPhone and iPod touch are OS X devices, and we can write OS X apps with our eyes closed. It’s coming.”  Their main concern with regards to the iPhone is that EDGE may not be the most ideal way to stream video content, however they are apparently quite enamored of the WiFi connection, which could make these devices the most ideal way to experience SlingPlayer.  With the SDK having been released, SlingMedia have no doubt gotten their grubby hands on it and are currently exploring its nooks and crannies in preparation to port their SlingPlayer Mobile over.

For those unfamiliar, SlingMedia make the SlingBox, a place-shifting video streaming box that lets you stream video content wirelessly to one or more places around your abode.  SlingPlayer Mobile is one way to pick up the stream with your mobile device, but it also allows you to receive wireless TV over an Internet connection.
